Does anyone Else here own their own unit for looking up problems in their cars computer????

Sometimes my Check engine light appears and sometimes it turns off on its own. I was thinking about ordering a Code Reader for 35$ off ebay and using http://www.actron.com/code_lookup.php to define the codes.

 

Are you asking what generation OBD your car is??

 

Yea you can get a decent obd code reader even at autozone. Some of them will check the code for you for free. The autozone around my way does.

 

yeah for How much @ autoZone. you know offhand man? I know of AutoZones but I barely go in em.

 

The one I remember was around $85

 

if it shows the Error Code and its definition id prolly go for it but if its just the code itself I wouldnt pay 85$ for it at all.

 

The one in autozone (a few different kinds) shows you the code & and you can delete it too for like $60.

 

I dunno my Check engine is off again for like the past 3 days. My mechanic friend said it was the Intake I have. The Ratio of air to Gas isnt equal because of the short Ram installed. He said take it out but im def not puttin that Stock Box back in

 

Read the error code. Then you & your friend don't have to GUESS what sets it off.
