Default taillight TINTING

K, I posted this in the DIY, but no response. I am planning on tint my taillights.
1) Do I need to sand the taillight? or do I just wash it with soap and water?
2) I have a 98 accord. I am planning on tinting my stock taillights. Is it okay to tint the white part of the tailllight? (okay to tint the WHOLE taillight dark red?)

What method did you plan to use to tint? (film or spray) That doesn't even matter, you don't have to sand for anything. Wash and clean the surface first.

Sure you CAN tint the white ... but you have to be a moron to do that. People can't tell when you're in reverse. If you back into someone, it'll be your fault at all times.

Amen to that. Is tinting taillights legal?

depends on the state, typically no. All lights need to be of a standard color.

Red = turn or brake
White = reverse

no blue, no green, no shades of dark red, etc. You'd never pass a visual inspection.

Also, there needs to be some sort of RED reflective surface on the rear of your car. note the "Red". This is how Lexus gets away with the crystal tails found on the RX SUV.

Like or dislike is an opinion and to each his own. Personally I like it. I prefer that over the "bling" taillights. But that could depend on the car and thats another opinion.
