Default self maintenance question...

just wondering how hard it is for a decently mechanically inclined person to change out spark plugs/wires and install new struts/shocks and springs on a 1990 accord. wanted to get an idea before I buy a repair manual--also which repair manual is best?

last but not least--thinking of getting my car repainted and wondering how hard it is to remove the headlights, tailights, and suggestions for other things to remove which are not too complicated.

I thought about doing the timing belt/water pump myself, but after looking at the link/thread--I think my honda mechanic will get that job!

thank you very much in advance and happy holidays!!!

The plugs and wires (if you have a 4cyl) are extremely easy.
The suspension is semi-easy.. it's a lot of work, but not really complicated.
The tail lights are very easy. The head lights are slightly more complicated.. if it's anything like my 96 accord you'll have to remove the front bumper, which is all of 4 bolts.

Finally, the repair manual.. I have heard that the helm manuals are the best, and recently got one.. they're incredible. They're not cheap but will save you frustration over another manual that you may buy at say.. autozone.

Springs can be lethal. Witout a spring compressor and experience, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

Yes, this is very true. When I did my suspension I made due with bar clamps, but I would NOT recommend that.

make sure there is no one else in front or around you.
I kill this little guy when I was taking apart the stock suspension.
