Default Do I need new shocks?

I recently purchased a lowering kit from Eibach and I was wondering something. I know this might be a silly question, but do I also need to replace the shocks while I install the lowering kit? And if so, do I have to buy a special shock for a lowered vehicle or can I go OEM? BTW, the drop is 1.5" front and rear. Please let me know so I can make the proper preparations for lowering my car, thank you!

It's different for every car. Some cars will go 100k miles on stock shocks after it's lowered. Some will go a few thousand, it all depends. You'd mind as well replace them. Search around for brands.

if your stock ones are in good condition, you can get away with 1.5" drop

i'd go ahead and put some new ones on...might as well, since you're been right there replacing your springs. plus you can go alittle while with your oem ones but its not that good to be lowered on oem shocks. idk. i'd say buy some.

Sounds like good advice to buy new shocks, I just wasn't sure. Especially considering that the rears seem in good shape, but the front, well the passenger side anyway, is in not so good shape. Any brands in mind to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. I was thinking Bilstein, but they seem kinda pricey. Suggestions?

Here's my plan: I'm going to buy Tein H-Techs and use them with my stock shocks for 20-30,000 miles or so. During that time, I'l save up for a more sophisticated setup; probably coilovers. I'll sell the Teins off to someone for cheap. Does that sound pretty reasonable?

BTW, I know this sounds retarded, but how the hell does one pronouce "Tein?" I feel dumb buying a product from a brand I can't pronounce. Like when my dad had his Meeshubitsi Eclipse.

I was thinking probably "Tine" or "Tane."

I thought it was "Tee-En," but then it would be spelled Tien.

Depending on where you live will determine whats the best shock to get. ( Meaning road conditions). If you do live in Puerto Rico, I wouldnt recommend tokico's since they are stiffer. I forgot the town I went to but the roads there were ridiculous. I kept saying to myself the roads in NYC are much better ( meanwhile they are the worst roads ive been on ).

I got a set of KYB struts lowered on H&R springs and its very comfortable.
Feels like a stiffer version of stock struts.
On my VW I have the blue tokicos and they are stiff as hell. I have to swerve around almost every hole in the street. Even when I run over a rock you can feel it.
