Default 95 accord v6 crazy rpm gauge please help

I own a 95 honda accord v6 and my rpm gauge is jumping all over the place, it sometimes causes my engine to waver as well. Can anyone offer any advice as to what the problem might be? I would greatly appreciate it!

well need a little more info on the car.....first can you define "waver" and "all over the place"....does your rpm's jump while driving or at idle? if while driving is it an auto or manual tranny? be as descriptive as possible

Hello Joe:

It ended up being a bad ignition coil, it was around a $100 to get fixed at Honda and I have had no issue since. Hopfully this helps.

I could not send to your hotmail kept getting bounce backs.

possiby the tach sensor wire. Either corrosion or the signal being sent from the disty is getting messed up.

V6 but what year? OOPS, you DID say it's a 95... sorry.

1995 V6 & a couple years after that, the tach signal comes from the coil. If you can find any loose/dirty wire connections, fix them first.

At some point before 1998 the tach signal comes from the ECU.

Just for other people reading this, the 4-cyl tach signal comes from the ignitor up to 1997 or so.
