Greetings,

I have no idea where the 'ground wire' is located in my car.

I'm having several electrical problems, and I was told that I should check to make sure my ground wire is not loose.

This seems to be easy enough, so I purchased an auto repair manual for the 03-05 Honda Accord.

But sure enough, I found no documentation on the 'ground wire'.

Anyone know where the 'ground wire' is located, or could possibly give me a head start?

Check your negative battery post, aka your "ground" battery post.

 

Is it really that simple?

I mean if you're referring to my negative car battery post, then my car wouldn't even start, correct?

Just trying to find out if I'm on the right page...

Yup, the wire/wires are what your looking for.

 

So a the ground wire is simply the black cable that's connected to the steel circle ring that sits around the negative battery post.

Just making sure I'm understanding it correctly.

Is there any way to make sure the ground wire is not loose? It's a wire attached to the battery, don't see many ways it can be 'loose', you know what I mean?

Please advise.

There's a zillion 'ground wires' in the car. If it were the big ground wire from the battery to the chassis, it should affect everything including the starter.

But there's tons of little ground wires from different systems that ground themselves to the car chassis. You'll want a wiring diagram for your car. You should consider which systems are messed up, and how do they share any part of their circuitry. For example they may be grounded at the same point, or they may share the same fuse.

Electrical troubleshooting is kinda hard over the web, but maybe if you give us a list of the things that are screwing up...

The component that's messing up specifically is the tuner assembly (the CD player).

My car was once hit from the wide, which appeared to shake something loose.

Ever since then, when my CD player gets too hot, the CD screen reads 'DISC ERROR' and then ejects the CD.

I have been in much hotter weather before being hit, and this had never happened.

Also, now if I ride over a bump, the CD player skips. If I ride over more than three bumps, the CD screen reads 'DISC ERROR' and then ejects the CD.

The last time it became really hot, I had to wait three days before my CD player started working again. This was about three months ago.

However, this time it has been about a week and it still hasn't come back on.

Any suggestions? Does this sound like a 'ground wire' having been knocked loose? Does this sound like it is specifically the CD player?

Please advise. Thank you in advance.

I'd go ahead and suck it up and replace the radio. Doesn't sound like a ground issue at all.

I was fearing having to do just that.

The only reason is that the Honda Dealership wanted to charge me 563.04.

It's on Majestic Honda for a considerably less amount, but still over $300.00.

That's the entire tuner assembly. The front deck part with the knobs and buttons.

Does anyone know if you can purchase the CD player ITSELF separately?

I went to ebay and had missed a bid on the entire assembly for less than $200 by a day.

So hundreds of dollars are hundreds of dollars. If I don't have to suck it up, I won't, but who knows at this point.

If no one can recommend a better place to buy within another month...

then I guess it's a brand new tuner assembly I shall purchase...
