Default Wheel radio controls and new units

I'm getting really annoyed with the stock CD player not being able to play CD-R properly and thinking of replacing it with smth that wouldn't be so picky and would also play MP3...

My concern is this: will the wheel radio controls work with non-Honda units? It's Accord EX 99 coupe.

Thanks!

Well, the thing with CDRs is strange. It has no problem playing really old disks (such as those bought in 98-00). New media takes a while to load and jumping from track to track triggers a lot of seeking. Eventually the player starts playing the song but it can seek back and forth for a minute or so.

Things seem to become worse in hot weather. But all old CDRs and original disks always play fine...

Great! It isn't really plug-n-play but looks very promissing. I wonder how powerful its LED is and whether I'll be able to hide it under the dash or I'll have to really position it near the radio...

Those things are hit-or-miss. Is it worth $50 to not have to reach a foot and a half down to the radio, no. It's a good concept, it converts your steering wheels controls into a infared remote. The down side, not all of the remote functions are supported by the interface as well as the radio not being able to read all of the interfaces commands. All in all having used them, not worth it.

If you go with a new alpine unit, there is an adapter that plugs directly into the back of the deck, so there is no infrared involved. There are other brands that work with adapters like this too, but I always recomend alpine head units.
