F22 with idling problems
I just picked up a 1990 Accord EX with the F22A1 (125hp hahaha), 145k miles, and its a great car except for one problem. It refuses to idle smoothly. It has a new tune up but the idle fluctuates and almost stalls when coming to a stop. Once stopped it seems to behave alright.
Clean the TB? Any ideas? I just need it to run smoothly so I can make it a daily driver. I have a 1990 Thunderbird SC for the fun times.

Ive looked at the block ID and it says F22A1 which is the 125hp version. And yet the trunk says EX. no ide what the deal is. EX's are VTEC in that year but mine is the base engine.. oh well.
And also I diagnosed the problem. Blown head gasket at 154k miles. Hopefully the head isnt cracked. Any tutorials on changing the gasket?

An F18B was used in the accord in the late 80's in Japan but i do stand corrected that the F22B didnt come out until 1994.
Oh and I found my problem. warped head and it only has 154k miles.... great.

how did you know you had a warped head though?

took the entire engine to the machine shop and they put it on the bench and scaled the surface of the block and the head. Head is badly warped and the block is only slightly. The block is fine, I got another head and had it slightly machined to match the warp in the block and put it all back together. Now I just have to find the timing belt tensioner...

i had the same problem
i had the same problem but now it idles correct i have a honda prelude 92 type s which has a f22a1 engine and tranny the problem is the throttle if you look at the throttle body (towards) the back you will see a sensor with a connector to it turn on ur car and disconnect that plug and see if their is any change if not then that means you have a bad throttle body sensor
