Default V6 2000 Accord Coupe- Occasional Starting Issues

On a hot day OR driving around for a long while running errands and the engine is nice and hot:

The car will start and then dies quickly. As it is dying, I notice the RPM's fluctuating. It won't restart until it cools off.

I have encountered this issue 3-4 times over the past 6 months. But I understand that it gets worse over time. My Accord has 101,500 mi. on it. When it was around 98,000, I took it to the dealer and they replaced the PMG-F1 main relay for free because it was still under warranty( They said they replaced it). This problem did not occur for a while, but last week it resurfaced. I do understand that it is an issue with the fuel system.

IF the pmg-f1 relay was replaced, could it be the fuel pump regulator?

I performed a diagnostic test which I learned from this site. The "3 click test" I call it.
1) Turn ignition to ON - click 1
2)Check engine light goes off - click 2
3)Turn the key to start - click 3

The car started fine. I understand that the main relay will click 3 times before the starting process.

I'm just looking for possibilities if it is not the pmg-f1 relay or any advice. Thanks.

Hah the same thing happens to me and only occaisonally. If I just give it more gas when it starts struggling it doesn't die. I don't think it's anything major.

It actually does die if i don't maintain the rpm's at 800-1000. Its an automatic, so I have to stick it in gear quickly and then step on the accelerator to maintain the rpm's. It doesn't always work. If it doesn't work, than I have to let it cool off.

Kinda like what 98coupeV6 said up there.
Hah one of us needs to figure out what this is then. It hasn't happened since I cleaned out my EGR ports, so that could very likely be the cause. Except of course for the fact that the EGR is inactive at idle...but perhaps at cold idle it's on to heat up the cat faster.

It just did it to me again. I had to walk home a mile, than walk back to the car after it cooled off for about a couple of hours. It started.

Prior to the car not starting up:
I drove around running errands. Turned on and off the car a couple of times. The car was nice and hot. Went to the supermarket by the house, came out, and the car wouldn't start. I can crank it, it starts and dies. Must let it cool off.

No "check engine light" to work with. All lights come on fine. Even the green key light comes on. pmg-f1 relay was replaced.

I talked to a mech and he asked what type of gas I use. I told him shell and sometimes chevron. He said stick to one type, chevron. He also said it could be the distributor can. I don't know. Anyone have more advice.

Uh no, bad advice, never stick with only one type of gas. They all have different detergents in them so it's good to rotate. I've noticed that when I stick with a certain type of gas for awhile my MPG goes down. For instance, I had $250 with of Sunoco gift cards so for about a month I only went there...my MPG went down by like 2, and as soon as I went to Hess it went back up.

I doubt it's a distributor problem but changing the cap, rotor and wires is preventative maintenance every 100k miles if you haven't done it.

Take your manifold off, clean the EGR ports, and see if that fixes it. It's seemed to fix mine.

Would a fuel injection cleaner help? I'm thinking about trying that when the gas tank is close to empty. Put the cleaner in the tank and then fill up the tank with gas.

Also, today my SRS light came on....and stayed on. I know that this is the supplemental restraint system (air bag). But this is the only indicator I have to work with that lit up on the dash. Can this be somehow related in any way to my problem?
