J30A1 Owners: Clean your EGR!
Just wanted to share my beautiful EGR port with you guys. This is after 206k miles with the intake manifold never coming off and Seafoam every 30k. My MPG went from 23 to 25.5 and the car runs a whole lot better now. I had some metallic clicking when accelerating up hills, which I incorrectly diagnosed as valves out of spec. Turns out I just wasn't getting my engine enough air and it was predetonation.
The valvetrain looked really good though with very little oil sludge or carbon deposits h:

The question was inline with the subject of the post.
I'm sure it's not broken. I just didn't use it.
Obviously it's an engine cleaner of some type; but there seems to be quite a bit of debate as to whether or not one should use it. Hence my question in hopes of sparking some sort of feedback about it.

I used like 50 q-tips on that, my intake manifold and my egr valve itself. I only had to buy gaskets for the TB and EGR valve so it was like $7 plus a can of carb cleaner. It was really easy to do, only took me like 2.5-3 hours and I've never done it before.

Some people here are just really ANAL about the search button. Small minds worry about small things.

Well I won't waste a lot of thread space debating semantics with you over a stupid question. But I will try to address your points and your concern over folks using search.
First, by your same logic, in just a tiny bit more time than it took you to write "I see the search button is still broken," you could have just written what you did above about the product; and it would have given me more info than when I started and would have been more helpful to EVERYone than your broken search comment.
Secondly, I did ask in the context of the EGR job as I wrote "I've actually got to clean my EGR ports ...." meaning that I was curious about it since maybe it would help me in my upcoming endeavors.
Third, I did go back and use the infamous search, which is why I said there seems to be some debate on (read: concern or questioning on) whether or not to use it. If YOU used the search to pull back the older threads on it, you would better understand my "quite a debate" comment a little better perhaps?
Finally, threads and posts are about conversations. If you don't want to contribute to one, then don't. If you don't like a question being asked, just don't respond at all. Forums are just that.
And let me end on this note... Surely server space isn't all that big of an issue. With over 10K posts yourself, I can almost bet that every single one does not provide 100% useful information or insight, especially if half of them say something like "Use the search" or "Don't forget to use search" or "I guess the search is broken again."
See? It's all good. Now I know what Seafoam is, how much it costs, and that it won't do any good for cleaning my EGR ports anyway.
