Default 9005 conversion?

dumb question: when people say they did the 9005 conversion, do they mean they did the alteration to get the 9005 bulb to fit in the low beam socket?

dayam, I had wished I knew about that before I purchased both the 9005 and 9006's, it would be a waste now to throw out the 9006's now , unless the 9006's fit in the high beam socket? what do you guys think? thanks

yeah, most people alter the bulbs...

...but after melting plastic with my solder iron pissed me off, i decided to just alter the sockets. you just take a pair of tweezers and pull out that little plastic thing in the middle of the socket and 9005 and 9006's will slide in perfectly. yes, i am aware that this isn't the best idea, but it's working with no problems and that's all that matters to me.

Thanks for the replies. I currently have eurolite's for both high and low. I got them this summer after really starting to get into the modding thing. I've driven this accord stock for almost 2 yrs now, so in a way I'm still a newbie at this mod. stuff, but learning more everyday. I'll do the conversion once 1 of the lows burn out, no sense to waste so early =) I can get other things with that $.

Yes ma'am! You'll have to solder some of the plastic piece out so you can make it fit into the socket. I've had this setup since March, and I've had no problems so far.

I just did mine, and I don't notice a difference between the before and after. I'm using the Sylvania silverstars. I thought it'd be better than it is, but oh well.

Next time, I won't spend $25 on each bulb for the silverstarst, I will only drop $15 for the Sylvania cool blues.

another question... i saw GE bulbs. are these not as good? they make the cool blue and the hyperwhite as well and they are the same size as the bulb that is already in the headlight. is there that much of a difference between the sylvanias and the GE that i should go with them and mold it or should i give these a try? they were rather inexpensive!

I think sylvania are higher quality and brighter. I would go with cool blue or white and make sure you are getting high beam 9005's and fitting them into the low beam socket. That's all there is to it.

I'm much happier with my steering wheel than I am with my new bulbs though. $85 shipped to your door.
