What is that Buzzing Noise when my car is off?
Ok, the other night I was putting on a couple of muffler tips on my car and I kept hearing a Buzzing sound. It would go for about 3-4 secs then stop and repeat about every 5 mins or so. I've done some looking in the forums and see that most is because thier ABS light is on and it's thier pump and couldn't find anything else. My light is not on and niether is my car. When it happens my car haddn't been drivin in at least an hour. I can't tell exactly where it comes from but I was leaning under the car at the rear when I heard it, but again it could come from anywhere on the car. What the hell is that noise! :dunno:

That sounds weird. The ABS buzzing you've read about is the ABS self check when your car first starts moving. You're gonna have to pinpoint where the noise is coming from before we can help you...are you sure it's not just your exhaust components cooling off?

Yeah, at first I thought it was my phone but it was inside. It's a distictive buzzing noise and it happened on que. I'll have to try and find exactly where its comming from and repost.

that's really weird. Cooling metal parts don't vibrate, it's more of a clanking noise.

Something in the EVAP system of my '98 does this. I think(?) it's normal. It's really pretty quiet, so if you're not down around the back of the car it's not easy to notice.
Pressure builds up in the gas tank, & the EVAP system allows this to escape thru the charcoal canister. Unlike older simple systems, this seems to have a valve that opens periodically.
