my car is 98, and the hood is fading, it has some white spots like the clear coat is burning. Is that a sign of a repainted hood? I checked the front end and I couldnt find any repairs or signs of collisions. BTW, I am the 2nd owner, have no idea what the first owner had done to this car.

That could either be a cheap repaint job... or the 1st owner hardly ever washed the car, never gave it some wax, etc. Paint could have been burnt off from bird shit or something, along with little rocks hitting it while you drive fast which chip off tiny little spots and leaves white specks.

Is the clear coat gone? If it's not, try compounding it really good, and then giving it some wax. Meanwhile start looking around for a reputable shop that will paint it for you... and remember the golden rule... you get what you pay for.

i call total bull shit on you did a search.
try google fucking dot com when you are searching.

and you are far better off having the pros put the clear bra on, the tinting places usually do this at same place, so call around your tinting places around your town, where? go hit a yellow book or something.

sorry for being a dick, can't stand people buying cars and just putting stuff on. maybe this'll teach them something.

and to answer lk21joker, when your hood is repainted, it is usually bit different color toned then your original body color. or look under the hood for it's original paint color and match that up with the ones on top. you know, they never paint the hood on the other side. so that gives you an idea where to start. if you are planning on getting a new hood, hit up the junk yard near you, chances are, they'll have something you can use, if not, OEM will rape you in the ass for the price you'll be paying them. CF hood for once? or just repaint the sucker. good luck.

Thanks for all your inputs, I really appreciate it. I checked under the hood, and color is the same as the top. What I have noticed is that the paint on the hood is not as fine as the fenders or the roof. "Fine" means the hood has more grain in the paint and it's not as reflective. I think the hood was repainted or it was clear coated for extra protection but then it was a cheap after market clear coat. I will wax it the car this weekend.

Hehehe, now i remember the burned spot one time got a bird sh*t on that very same spot, gosh, i hate Dark Emerald Green Color, my last car was also that color. What color would you prefer on a 6th gen Accord sedan? White or Red or Black?
