trunk molding removal accord 96

new here...Just wanted to know if anyone has removed the chrome trunk molding above the license plate well on a 1996 accord sedan. Thinking about going "all black" and I'm afraid the trunk will leak if I remove this.
Any Ideas?

i dont' think that it will leak, but it looks pretty dumb w/ out it. I took it off my car just to look.

I would do a black crome job on it and the rear 'H' above it.
