Default signs of a bad catalytic converter

hey you think a bad cat in a '93 accord could cause a rough idle and a marble-bouncing-around sound while accelerating? i stuck my hand in front of the tailpipe and the exhaust isn't rythmic...it feels like it's misfiring every few strokes, but i got no CEL...maybe the cat's screwed and plugging everything up?

and, how long do cats usually last?

u may just need regular exhaust parts replaced.. leaks can be noisy making your car run rough.. a bad pcv valve can destroy your cat.. i have a 92 and still have my original cat and its fine..

u may need your valves adjusted, it takes just one valve to be out of adjustment to make the car run rough and noisy..they r suppose to be adjusted every 15,000mi.

I installed headers on my old teg, wrapped infact and the excessive heat apparently melted the honeycomb structure that scavenges the gases to reduce emmisions. My car was a little sluggish and I heard some clinks here and there. I ended up replacing the cat with a Random Technology free flow cat and slapped a Greddy catback exhaust on. World of difference. The cat was so fried I had to use a grinder to get the nuts off the mounting bolts. Then my cheap ass pacesetter headers began to warp at the engine gasket. I bought some Neuspeed N2 headers....the combination was one of the best sounding non-stock cars I have owned!

i dont think my parents even know what a valve adjustment is which means, we have never done it on any of our cars.
