As the title states.

My sisters car just started having a problem where the key will not turn on the car. it will crank but not turn on.

BUT

when you use the remote start; the thing fires right up.


My mom just told me this over the phone.

I wanted to know what procedures i should follow to diagnose this, or if you guys might know whats up already. lol.

 

what remote start/alarm she has. it could be a cutoff switch connected to the ignition cable (red cable). or it could be the alarm itself.

 

bad wiring??

 

I would suspect a bad ignition switch as is the remote start bypasses it. just replace the electrical part should be fine ,unless a wire where the car start was tapped into came loose .
