Default Check Engine Light

The light just came on on my 98 V6. The gas cap was tight so that is not the issue. Question: Can I go anywhere that might have the computer to hook up and see what the problem is? Do some places do it for free? I would rather not go to the dearer mechanics if I don't have to.

Thanks.

if you have an AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts near your house, they'll do it for free.

You can also do the paper clip trick and get the code yourself, if you can count

Do a search, there is a link to the forum/procedure on Honduh forums.

Can you post it here please? I can't remember which pins it goes into. Last time I had to read a CEL from my car I figured it out because two of the pin slots were slightly polished from me jamming the paper clip in there h:

What? Well I guess you won't solve your problem then :dunno:

All you have to do is look through the thread or use the magical internet explorer tool edit-->find. Or the search button for P1457. Not sure why you posted that list.
