i have 90 accord dx 4 dr, lately when i turn my car on, sometimes it won't start, it cranks but doesn't start..i have to wait about 1/2 to 1 hr or the next day and then try it again and then it starts. I took it to mechanic and he told me my fuel pump was good and that it was one of my wires connected to my pump that was burnt out, he replaced the wires. But 2 days later, the same problem occured, now he says that the fuel pump has to be changed. Some have told me its my starter others say that it's my relay that's burnt out-(related to fuel pump, under the dash). can someone please advise and assist??

 

Is it hot in the car when this happens? If so then it sounds like you are going to need a new main relay. It is up under the drivers side if the dash. This is a common problem with older accords. If they sit in the sun and get hot inside the main relay won't work. Any Honda dealreship should have them in stock. I have been a Honda tech for over 10 yrs and see this same problem every summer. Hope this helps.

Honda...does the check engine sign come on when u crank it up?

 

the CEL doesnt exactly come on when it is faulty...when it compltely fails i think the CEL come son then....

mine was only 46 dollars online and it wasnt actually my problem so i have an extra one laying around. the solders are good on it as well

the same thing is happening to my integra but i was told its my ignition switch doing it... does your instrument panel and fuel pump lose power when your trying to crank it?????

 

^Yes, thats why after you try cranking it up so long, u have to wait atleast 15-30minutes until ur car kicks in....Wierd..To be honest with you, your better off asking poeople on this site what to do instead of going to a mechanic because 90% of the time theyll lie to u....One mechanic told me my car was messing up cause the battery was dead???But little did they know a couple weeks back i bought that battery from them..........So yeah, ask for help and do not depend on mechanics.

 

so your fule pumpoand instrument panel are dead when your cranking it???? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was going vrazy wondering what it was and im overseas right now so i need to order this relay well i wanted to wait and see if the same thing is happening or has happened to someone else before I went ahead and ordered one online...Man Im a chick so I dont know too much about cars but its weird its like the car starts when it wants too.. like this morning i left it at work over night well it started right up then when i got off work it didnt start.. some friends if mine said it was my ignition switch but if your saying the same thing is happening to your honda then it has to be the relay... LOL!!!!!!!!!
