** 90 accord Steering/Fan Problem **
Hey guys! I own a 90 Honda Accord EX which currently has 140k Miles on it...I've have this car for about 4-5 months now and im just noticing a few problems...For one, both of the fans which are on my radiator dont seem to turn on when I turn my car or turn on the ac...Second, my steering fluid leaks a couple of days after i fill it...Do you guys know how to go about either of these problems? If so let me know...Id rather fix my car myself then having to pay someone else to look at my car then tell me whats wrong with it...Is there any plugs i should mess around with to get the fan to go on? Thank you...

Best bet would be to get a Helms manual and trouble shoot it. If that's too steep for ya, even a cheapo Haynes manual will have troubleshooting in it. I have one for my wife's civic, and while I wish I put the $15 towards a Helms for it (I have a Helms for my Accord) it still had enough info to trouble-shoot her overheating problem.
Check the fuses, relays, wiring. Then check the thermoswitch, thermostat, etc. Is it overheating? Does the AC not work?

So it doesn't overheat...
Well there are two fans like you said, but one is for the radiator, one is for the AC condensor. Have you started up the car, let it sit for a while and wait and see if the fans come on after a while? Because the radiator fan won't come until the coolant temp is high enough to open the thermostat, and the hot coolant hits the thermoswitch telling the radiator fan to turn on. Turn the car on and watch and see if it comes on after a while.
The AC condensor fan won't come on unless you have the AC fan on.

He may be saying that his condensor fan was unplugged...look on the back of the fan, you'll see the plug, might be a tight fit, but check it out.
Well I guess you could try and trouble shoot the condensor fan. Test it by using wires directly on the battery. If that spins the motor, then start checking switches, wires, relays, fuses, etc.
You may need to recharge your AC system with new refrigerant. I know both my cars (97 and newer) both require 134A, not sure on your 90...I would assume it's 134A, but older cars require R12. If you ask at autozone, etc, they should be able to tell you. Just get a kit with a guage, etc, and follow the directions.
