that has nothing to do with the torque converter. That's an issue with the hydraulic clutches within the transmission. To learn how automatics work, www.howstuffworks.com is a very good site.

You'll need a whole new tranny. I drove on my first one until I had to manually shift gears (and let off the throttle for 2-3 seconds between each one) for a couple of days. First and second were only occaisonally engaging. That sucked.

If you have a 6th gen v6 like I do, you'll need a whole new tranny. Mine started slipping and wouldn't engage until a certain RPM (beyond the normal range) was hit. Then it would shift really hard and lose a lot of power. You're best bet is to change it ASAP and not wait. I waited a while cuz i thought the problem was minor...boy was i wrong.

my friend said that its probably because the seal is torn or worn out and it lost pressure

is that something that maybe true the seal rips a little and u loose pressure?

If the seal is torn you'd have no tranny fluid in the case, since the only seals that really have the ability to wear out or break are on the half shafts. The clutches are hydrauliuc pressure operated.

It could be a bad modulator valve that controls the pressure. I've never heard of one going but I suppose it's possible, so measure line pressure.

Or it's one of these problems:

Or you should just buy a new car or a new tranny.
