Switching 00' cd player with 01' cd player compatibility
I own a 00 accord coupe V6. I want to change my cd player to a 6 disc cd player that the 01 and 02 have. Will i have any compatibility issues if I do this? Will I still be able to use my steering wheel remote? And does the 01/02 player play cdrs well? The cd player I have in my car is horrible at reading cdrs. Thanks in advance for the help.

I got an 01 Accord with the 6disc, and it plays cdrs just fine. on occassion, itll have an error, but in the past 4.5 years, that only happened like 4 or 5 times, so not bad. And also, I don't know if it's the car or the quality of the disc, but my 01 doesnt skip as much as my 03 accord. hope this helps.

how much are you getting the 01 stock deck for?
Considering you can fit 10, 192KBPS albums onto one MP3 disc, 6 disc changers are pretty over rated now. Also consider your audio source. If you burn your music from MP3's to audio discs, why even bother with the changer?
Anyways, back to the topic ...
Your new radio should plug right in. If you have a trunk mounted changer, you will lose that. On the V2 G6 decks, the attachment input was removed.

He clails that the buttons are remote (as in RF, bluetooth, etc), which I don't think is right. I think he has an EX, is it possible he got a wrong (DX/LX) headunit and this is why they are not working? Or is there something else wrong there.
Any help is appreciated, he's been bugging me for like a week now and I have no idea what to tell him. I haven't owned a honda since a 95 GSR (sholda never sold it!).
thanks
Just got this from him
"I have 2000 Accord EX V6 and new radio is 2002 Accord EX radio"

looks like when switching to the newer 6G decks, you lose the wheel remote anyways.
This has to do with the manufacturer swap done. I believe that Pioneer made the 98 to 00's, Alpine did the 01 - 02's.

Has anyone done this swap or knows someone that has done this swap to confirm that the steering wheel control does work?
I bought the HU on ebay, i ended up paying like $190 or something for it, I can't remember exactly what it was(I can find out). This was last summer.
Try to be patient, one will come up for the right price for you.
I had NO problems whatsoever. Easy install. The harness is exactly the same thing, no wiring or splicing needed. The new unit plays CD-R's flawlessly, and will even read CD-RW's although a bit tempermental, sometimes it will spit it out, i wipe it on my jeans put it back in and it reads. But that's ok because it is clearly not supposed to be able to read RW's.
The steering wheel controls WORK FINE. Looks like I was in the same thing as the other 50yr old guy, but I had no problems. From what I know the controls are one wire(black) and it is labeled on the sticker on the HU showing what all the wires in the harness are for.
Oh yea and if the code isn't included, that's ok. Just take the unit to your Honda dealer and they should give you the code for free, it takes literally 30 seconds. Also there are people on this board with access to them. I brought my ebay reciepts in case there was a question on where I got the radio, I ended up chatting with the service mgr for 30 minutes, and one of the techs came in saying he was looking for the exact same HU on ebay, and that I got a steal on what I paid for a unit in pristine condition. He said that is a great stock stereo and is one of the best ones Honda has, or had.
You shouldn't have any problems. PM me if you have any more questions.
