Default 04 Accord no Cruise

I have a 2004 Accord, and my cruise control kept turning off and on.
Sometimes I would have to turn the steering wheel to the right slightly for the cruise control light to turn on. I also have a clicking sound and binding feeling behind my steering wheel when turning. And yesterday when making a sharp left turn, I had a serious binding and my SRS light turned on and my cruise control light will not turn on. I recently had a engine, transmission and rack & Pinion replacement. Car was stolen and dunked in the creek. Honda Tech told me it could be the cruise control module inside the engine compartment and some other junk. But a mechanic friend of mine said it's the wiring harness inside the steering wheel. He said that he believes when they replaced the rack and pinion, they must have turned the steering wheel one rotation off, making the internal wires have to stretch beyond the limit, and eventially break. I believe my friend. Has anybody had this problem? Thanks.

You're frind sounds correct. It's definitely a problem with the wiring harness. IF this is related o the theft, the insurance should cover the repairs. I'd take it to a different shop or Honda dealer and have it fixed correctly. Especially if the SRS light is comming on.

If the car was in a creek and the insurance decided not ot total the car... then they MUST fix it correctly.

I can't believe they didn't total the car...why would anyone want that thing after all that? I'd flip if my insurance didn't total my car after it needed all that work.

I'm pissed about this. I haven't been able to enjoy it for 8 months. It took 5 months to get the car running. My insurance has spent 11K on it so far. I'm just afraid they're going to drop me, but it's there fault for not totalling it. I even have GAP insurance. I'm about to turn the thing in and take it as a loss. My credit will be screwed but I'm not about to pay $525 for the next 38 months for a car that's plaqued with problems.

Sounds like the SRS cable reel behind the steering wheel. Someone screwed it up when they replaced the rack, this is common....Call your shop and insurance company and ask who is going to pay for it.
