Default brake lights wont go off.. they r always on.

Hi,

I am having a problem with my accord. Some how the brake lights dont go off and are always on I tried looking around.. but the only thing i could come up from reading the manual... but dont know if that would be right.. the brake switch .. which controls the brake lights as well as the cruise control release.. could be bad..

But am scared and confused... dont want to take something appart when i am not sure about it. The manual is not very clear on the procedure... etc as well..

Could there be something else wrong or is this the only cause.

If there was a similar post which i missed coz i am new.. please do point me to the same.

would appreciate your help a lot.

Thanks.

look on the brake/gas pedal assembly theres a brake light switch right above the brake arm pedal, it might be stuck or damaged.

Thanks for your reply. I think that should be it.

Do you have some pic or illustrations or any pointers to any.. somehow the chilton's manual doesnt seem to have any pic or so.

I just got one for the brake switch off www.partsamerica.com...

It has something like a black.. thing you know kind of something should attach somewhere... dont know either for cruise control or for the brake thing..

I know one thing.. something broke there.. coz i saw a bit of plastic lying on the floor mat later on when i was looking around.

The sad part was i discovered the problem late at night and then gave up looking around or taking the covers apart.

Here is the attached pic.

Thanks for your help.

Default Hey got done with that one.

Pretty simple operation.

Actually the brake switch was all fine. There is a plastic plug or something like that on the brake pedal which keep the the brake switch depressed. That was what was broken.

I had ordered the brake switch earlier today coz it was on back order. But when i got back from work.. i though oh well.. lemme just try and see whats the real problem down there.

Then i saw that the plastic plug was broken.

For the time being "a dime and some tape" did the trick.

Thanks for the reply though..
you know i guess we learn simple things like this only when we have to fix em.

I guess normally such a thing would never brake.
