Description: The sway bar, also known as a stabilizer bar, is made of spring steel and mounts to the frame or unibody. The ends of the sway bar connect to the lower control arms.
Purpose: The sway bar helps reduce vehicle lean during cornering.
What people talking here about sway bars is actually replacing stock sway bars to aftermarket ones. The reason is: aftermarket bars are thicker in diameter and stiffer. This leads to a reduced body roll when cornering.
I just replaced mine, both front and rear, on Accord 2003 I4. The front one was not really that much thicker then the stock one 27mm as opposed to 25.4 mm. The rear one was a different story. 19mm versus 13mm. Huge difference. I also got my ride lowered with TEIN SS coilovers and installed front strut bar. All my bars are made by NEUSPEED.
Have I noticed a difference? Hell yeah!!! The car stays straight when I take corners and body roll reduced I would say by 80%.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

i need a sway bar(Rear). what is the best posible sway bar out there? i know there are many diff brands but i am not sure if the brand matters, since is all about the quality and the thickness of the bar. i am looking into dc sport, newspeed, some non brand off ebay and eibach. I know there are alot of topics about suspension but i am still undecided

Hard for me to say which one is better. It's hard to find aftermarket parts for 2003. Neuspeed was the only respected company that had them. But sure DC Sports and Eibach should be a consideration since they are well known and respected companies in aftermarket world. Then just look for the best price. You can check on e-bay if there is anything available for you from either Neuspeed, DC or Eibach. No name brands? Well, being an older guy I tend to stay away from no names or knock offs, but having no experience with those I do not think I have any right to pass any judgement, some may well possibly be as good as Big Boys.

well, in theory you dont even need springs/shocks/sway bars or anything but of course it would be more stress on the chassis

it shouldnt matter that much but i think it would help stabilize the car a bit better if one were to get harder bushings than corroded/cracked ones like mine.
