Grrr... Time for serious maintenance
Well, the time has come for new timing belt, as well as new oil pan gasket. What I need to know now, is what is it that I need to get done when I go to Honda. These are two of the few things that I won't even think about trying to do myself on my car. I know that with the timing belt, I gotta do water pump, and a bunch of other crap, and I'm wondering what else is usually done along with the oil pan gasket. If someone can please help me out with what exactly it is that I need to tell them to do at Honda I would greatly apreciate it.
Also if anyone works for Honda, or has had timing belt (along with all it's other crap), oil pan gasket (if it includes other things as well)... oh, and valve adjustment (I got lazy and haven't gotten around to it, so I might as well have honda do it all since it's headed there) and can tell me about how much this should all cost (I know it's an arm and a leg.... just wondering if maybe it'll cost an eye also
by the way.. it's a 95 lx nearing 180K
Thanks for the help...

I have a 95 EX and I've now put 2 timing belts on it, etc.
The most recent timing belt job at the dealer cost me around $620 (before tax) for the timing belt job. This included the timing belt work, the water pump, crank shaft seals and all the other stuff that goes along with it.
I actually should have my oil pan gasket replaced but I haven't yet, so I can't tell you what all is involved with that or the pricing.
The valves are easy to do yourself especially if you have a buddy help you out. But if you don't, I believe you can expect to pay around about $70 for a valve adjustment job.
Just call the dealer you think you want to have the work done with and they will give you pricing for each piece of work you need.

honda will rape you. you dont know of any independantly owned shops that are reputable? a guy that me and my dad have been going to for years did my belts, water pump, valve lash, etc.. for $450 w/ all honda oem parts. thats still kinda high but the guy does quality work and takes care of his customers.
