Wow do it yourself its a matter of unscrewing the old plugs and screwing the new ones in w/ a ratchet and a sparkplug socket. The stock honda plugs are just NGK copper plugs. according to ngksparkplugs.com your car runs ZFR5F-11 (pre-gapped) and those are $2.44 a pop.
http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....R5F-11&x=0&y=0

even with platiums they are only $2.68 a pop
http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....FR5FGP&x=0&y=0

double platinums are $11.71 a pop
http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....5F-11&x=57&y=9

and iridiums are $6.95 a pop
http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross....FIX-11&x=0&y=0

either way your mechanic is wack. $88 for changing sparkplugs is ridiculous even with double platinums.

whats the diff between platinums and none platinum?
also how often are we supposed to change the original sparkplugs?
i am about to do a tune up, my last tuneup i did it 2yrs ago. theaccordstore has the tuneup kit for $89.95

Perform a tune-up to your 4cyl EX Accord with one easy to order part number. Our tune-up kit consists of all genuine Honda replacement parts. Kit includes: four spark plugs, distributor cap, distributor rotor, pcv valve, fuel filter and air filter.

Best to go with the OEM part number and the same type of plug. You should however, be able to find them for $15 or less.

Platimum plugs last much longer than standard plugs, but performance will be roughly the same.

If your not willing to pay the cash for the NGK platinums which if you honestly think about it its not like they need to be changed every 30k than just put regular NGK non-platinums in.
definately disagree...my dad owns an automotive shop and he uses bosch sparkplugs for all the cars unless its a special request and it works fine...i have them in my car no problems

I had a one time friend that worked at Honeywell, they make spark plugs--I think maybe some for the AC delco brand....not sure exactly.

His expertise advised that NGK and Denso made the best plugs, it's all I'll ever own for my Honda...or any import.

I had Bosche Platinums in my old Dart, those things sucked...they wouldn't last long at all compared to even POS Autolite plugs.

NGK Iridiums for over a year now. Replaced the stock plugs at around... 90k perhaps. I'm sitting at 126k now.
