Is there a way to hook up the light sensor to the headlights?
I got a 2005 EX-V6 sedan and they come with a light sensor in the middle of the dash that's linked to the HVAC system... I was wondering if anyone know if it is possible to rewire the car so that the light sensor can control the headlights, too? I understand that it needs to be done with a couple relays and diodes, and I'm pretty good with electronics, but I don't know where to start. Does the light sensor output a variable voltage depending on the amount of light that it receives or is it like an on off switch (high/low voltage)? Thanks.

The sensor I think you're talking about is a temp. sensor. They actually sell kits for what you are talking about. It's more complicated than you think and requires more electronics than some relays and diodes. I bought one a while back from Pep Boys, don't know if they still have those anymore, and it was only like 30 bucks. Very easy to install too.

No. I am talking about the light sensor, not the temperature sensor. There is a light sensor on the EX models with the auto climate control near the bottom of the windshield in the middle of the dash. The temperature sensor, near the ingnition switch, is not the sensor I'm talking about.
So far I learned that the light sensor outputs 3.6-3.7V when there is no direct sunlight and 3.3-3.5V when there is direct sunlight. Now if only I can figure out a way to use that slight change in voltage to power a relay for the headlights, I'd be all set!
