Default new wheels affecting steering?

hi all,

can changing tires affect my steering by making it looser? I had 225/40/ZR18 Pirelli P7000's first, then changed to Toyo Proxes FZ-4's. Around the same time, I noticed that my steering wheel got looser. Could it possibly be that that Toyo's are gripping less? Or should my steering actually be better after getting these new tires?

Check your tie rod ends. The added stress of the wider tires can wear them out prematurely. This is assuming that by looser you mean more play.

Same thing happened to me running Yoko Paradas, I'd say that yes nice shiney new low profile tires can make your steering feel light.
