my cars got an exhaust leak around where the cat and downpipe meet. its been tightened as much as possible with air tools and the horrible sound remains while driving. is it possible to weld it so it is sealed? or any other suggestions will deffinitely help out.

 

your o-ring is there? Did you put the bolts/springs back in right? Is it the stock one or a aftermarket? What header? you sure there is no hole and it's coming from the connection?

one of my friends mentioned something about braising it instead of welding

 

or is it possible that i need more gaskets? b/c the gap is deffinitely there.

 

i remember when the guy put on my new cat it had a leak...then he fixed it by welding

 

i was wondering, would making a homemade gasket help? (out of compressed aluminum foil paper)???

 

or would it melt??? i came up with this idea by myself so if it sounds retarded, give another way to seal it, w/o spending alot of money

You have some interesting ideas.

I guess you could try some "liquid gasket" but I don't know how big of a gap you can fill with that.

 

Perhaps the mating surface of the new cat flange is missing the groove to hold the Honda crush ring, I assume you used a new crush ring (gasket)?

Else welding should fix the leak.
