check engine light with an attitude
I have this problem for a wile with my 98 honda accord lx 4 cyl, 2.3 l
I took it to different mechanics
The first diag. oxigene censor problem; it was replaced the light went
off for a few weeks. Light came back, was diagnosed again; cat convertor
problem, the censor on the convertor was changed; the light went off.
A week or two later the light came back again;some times it goes off by it
self; I heir the relay clicking ( I guess it checking something if the condi-
tion is still the same). however the check engine light comes back again
a day or two later.
Any idea, anybody hade similar problem?

In the 95, you can read the code yourself by using a paperclip, or a piece of cable. It's not the same for the 98??? It will give slow flashes for the first number (double digit codes) and fast flashes for the second number (or is the other way around?? havent checked mine in a while)
Did you try reseting the computer?

my 98 I4 vtec. had close to the same problem. what i noticed was when fueling up , the gas cap had a sound of pressure release. my stealership mentioned something upon diagnostic that maybe one of the four fuel injectors could be bad. after countless search i replaced my gas cap and fuel pressure regulator. and problem solved..
what was happening was the diapraghm deteriorated after countless use of fuel additives and destroyed the rubber in the fpr.
hope that helps.

Exact codes would be more helpful, should be on your receipts/invoices
A bad o2 sensor could have caused the cat. to go bad and it could have shown inself a week on two after you changed the o2. I seen it happen before to cars I've worked on.

"stealership" huh? Why do you have to say that? Exactly why more and more of use that work at dealers are going to other sites to help ppl. I guess you expect us to go to work everyday for free?
