emission test coming up
sup guys. wow it's been awhile.
a quick question. I got a mail today to get my emission test.
I have intake and muffler for my accord. Do I need to take them off?
what do they check there?? thx
================================================== ===
I learned something new today.
when i got my sound system installed... my clock light clicked out.
It's been out for pretty long time. ( month or two )
today, there was some kinda bug sitting at the top of the clock... So I decided to smack it off... so there I smacked it...... and then I turned my head around to the door...... " wtf? did I just see a light? " and I turn my head back.... wa la! the light was on...hahah I smack it again, my light went off... hmm I smack it again, the light came on...
I saw couple ppl in here asking for the clock lights... ppl who had problems like this, try to hit it. it might come on.... the hazard(emergency) light also works too!!!!

Intake and exhaust have nothing to do with emissions. It has everything to do with the cleanliness of your engine, your EGR, PCV, Cat, etc. Try to use some seafoam cleaner a couple of days before the test and when you're driving there make sure to get her plenty warmed up. Changing the PCV valve wouldn't hurt either.

I'm lucky that in Australia we don't have emissions tests wheee bye bye cat converter

Taking out your cat will decrease your MPG and reduce performance. Honda makes catalytic converters that are so efficient and so unintrusive that it will actually hurt your horsepower to take it off, especially with the reduction in back pressure. They're not like the old cats that came on 80s cars that were basically high density filters.

This really doesnt have to do with your emissions test but, i just got my registration in the mail, and didnt have to smog my car at all. Anyone else have the same thing happen to them? I was thinking it was because my car is newer so i wouldnt have to smog it until like 2007 or 08.
Oh and im from cali too.

Also he didn't say that he had a stock air filter, some air filters aren't as thorough as others (stock, for instance), thus making the burnt emissions of the substances getting through more harmful to the atmosphere... i think... however just the muffler wont effect it for sure..

when you buy a new car, you do not have to smog your car for five years.
the intake and header has to be CARB approved. the catalytic converter kinda matters, best to get a smog approved one or an oem one. test pipes will not pass.
so yes, change your intake back to stock if you have one that is NOT CARB approved, exhaust will not matter.
