Default Accord 94EX and Fuel Filter Change

I currently have 122k on my 1994 Accord EX Sedan. Should I have the fuel filter
changed? Has anyone had it clog up on them and what was the mileage?

Thanks,

Michael

I had my fuel filter and drive belts changed about a couple of weeks ago. My drive belts had visible cracks but didn't know if my fuel filter really needed to be replace. I would ask around first before replacing it...

According to my local Honda dealer, the fuel filter should be replaced every 150,000 miles on the 5th gen Accord. I've got 143k miles and still using the same filter... but am planning to replace it when I do a major tune-up at the big half way mark.

Some people say that you should change them every 120k and some say every 150k. So pretty much, when you get in that range, you should change it.

expensive? a fuel filter costs like 10-12 dollars. you need a 14mm? and a extension for the top and a set of wrenches for the bracket.

i ebelieve you have to move a box out of the way, that takes 10mm sockets. this is all for a 4th gen though.

its easy, go to the honda dealer and fork out $15 or so for the filter and do it yourself. according to the helms manual they recommend every 2yrs or 24k but i have 125k and still the same fuel filter for the past 4-5 yrs.

5th gen have the fuel filter mounted in the gayest place, down low on the driver side firewall. it is a pain in the ass trying to take the banjo bolt off from up top and the lower bolt on the bottom while being careful of ripping the fuel hose, its a bitch w/o having the car on a lift.

head down to sears and get a (i think 14mm) crowfoot wrench extension it will save you a headache while your under the car.

other than that its real easy just follow the 6 steps.

It's a mission to replace that damn filter when the motor is in the car. Just make sure you have a line wrench and proper tools.
