either way i always though that the purpose of warming up the engine was, to not be moving so to let it idle to temp with out having to put out effort to move wheels... but people also rev the engines to 7,000

yes. that is a quick way to warm your engine up doing minimal damage. Warming your car up b4 you drive isn't always nessary. drive your car at lower rpms when its cold for the most effecent way to warm your car.

i think thats dumb. if you rev your engine up when its cold it can cause damage. thats why you warm your car. your oil has to get up to temp so that it can properly lube the engine. when your at 7,000 rpms with cold oil your likely to damage your car. :chuckles:

Um no, that's not a good idea. You may have noticed that the "cold idle" in P or N is higher than it is when the car is warmed up...this is to warm up the engine faster. Putting it in drive will drop the RPMs down to warm idle even if the engine is cold. And like pimped said, the best way is to drive slowly and keep it below VTEC (if applicable) until the engine is warm.

yea, even though i drive a stick. i just leave it in neutral and not drive until a few minutes has passed, just less stress on the engine. otherwise, i keep rpms under 2k.

Honda manual recommend if you are going to warm up ur engine to put it on drive with the ebrake on and it will also warm up just a little faster and if it was bad on any type of way for the engine it wouldnt be in the manual. I read the manual and i dont think honda would recommend anything bad for their cars and i trust the manual. i have a automatic accord so i dont know if you will find this information on a accord not automatic manual.

people are stupid I have always seen people step on the gas while warming up the engine in freezing weather. why is the point of doing this? instead better just drive away slowly and be sure this is not going to harm ur engine if u drive normal. i dont know who in their righ mind would get their rpm to 7k, i am sure most honda when are extremely cold like now 20F it start at 2.5k and even if is -20F the car still start at under 3k and take about 5mins or the most just a little longer to warm up. thank god for remote starter is brick outside.

wouldn't putting the gear into D and pulling on the e-brake mess up the e-brake?
