Yeah, Accords are deceptive. No one looks at my car and thinks "Top speed 130." they all think "Top speed, somewhere around 105"

I mean, it may take a YEAR to get from 110MPH to 130 but it's fun! (I can usually stretch out 3rd gear to 110MPH, you put the shifter in "2nd" so it doesn't bounce off the 6100ish RPM.

Have you ever tried the Falken Tires...I paid like 45 bucks for each and never had a flat nor had them blow out on me.
The tread design looks better than those kumhos.....Are those summer tires?

44psi? That's crazy...is that the MAX printed on the side? The MAX isn't the recommended psi...

Glad you didn't get hurt or mess up your car though.

I noticed that too. Although tires heat up less at a higher pressure since the tire flexes less. Even if he used the recommended 32psi, it would have heated up to at least 40psi at 100mph with moderate temps outside.

IMO - overall 100mph isn't so bad but he also showed the risks of dirivng that fast. IF that blow out had occured when he was passing another car, he would have causes a multi car accident. You put other people in danger driving over 80mph on the freeway.

I think if you want to go that fast get a motorcycle. 100mph is nothing on a sportbike and it can go from 80-100 in less than a 100 yards even in top gear.

32 is recommended psi? It was about 40F outside yesterday. Not too warm at all. laugh

The thing is though:

Things I had to think about in the 2 seconds I was given to react:

- Hit emergency flashers.
- How fast am I going? Should I attempt to slam on the brakes?
- Should I not risk it and hit the median?
- How long do I think I can operate my FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car with half of my steering capabilities?
- How many cars are behind me? How fast are they going versus how fast am I going? What lane are those cars in?

It's a helluva lot more than anyone thinks about.

I'm pretty sure a hundred more thoughts ran through my mind, but there's only so many that stick out.

You were going 100 and your tire blew.

Get over it.

wow, considering how many hours I roll at a time at 100 or over in my civic - that's pretty scary. I don't know why, but my car has always felt better at 100 than it has at 70, so I usually find myself going 100 without even thinking about it. My car is really quiet too. Considering I have Kumho 712s on the front with Z ratings - I might wanna reconsider after seeing this.

I just generally find them to be a really shitty tire. My local mechanic said it's a "softer compound tire" which means it's mainly for "show", but with the Z rating...

My dad keeps bitching about how I need to put my Honda OEM 15" alloys because he thinks larger wheels = less tire. I kept trying to explain to him...

Not like he's paid for any of this shit anyways. . . ::grumble::
