Also to whoever said its about the liters your wrong and plus most prelude swaps are the H22 and the accord motor is an F22 so that's the same liter amount. Plus the fact that the smog limits for the 2 engines is not that big a difference. I passed my 98 prelude motor under my accord limits.

And also you can pass a JDM motor is cali it just has to have all the correct US smog parts put on the car as well as a US ecu. Check around honda-tech there are a shit lot of civics that are running OBD1 JDM motors that are smog legal.

Okay, so an h22 swap for me is out of the question, but i was wondering about a different type of hybrid. I was wondering about the USDM f23 bottum/ JDM h23 head hybrid. If i keep the bottum end intact, then wouldnt all the US sensors/ecu still be intact also? I was thinking about doing a straight h23 swap, but their isnt a US h23 equivulant that i can use for the ecu/sensors.

becuz it would make sense, if i put in a F22B series into my motor, i dont think that the ppl doing the smog test would know since thelabel is only off my 2 symbols and it is the same liters.

what? youre not making any sense. plus it doesnt make a difference anyways. Im trying to get real info on jdm smogs, not what you, 'think is best'.

again, like i said, i need factual input on reffing/smoging a JDM engine, not your bullshit. I mean, do you read the shit before you post it. "passing a JDM engine is illegal now in cali." IF IT WAS ILLEGAL, HOW COULD IT 'PASS' THE REF STATION?! At least when other people bullshit, they make some kind of sense. You on the other hand, just speak to be heard. This is the reason i goto other forums for tech. questions. Because people like you post what they 'think' instead of facts and answers. God i hate kids like you.... your mother shouldve just swallowed you.

I know for a fact that swapping a different head on a block is illegal in california, the only thing i could suggest is wait for Hasport to come out with there K series swap kit and then do that swap at least on the newer ECU's they can get around the immbolizer stuff and amke the cars run.

Why not just turbo the F its a strong motor

hasport doesnt make anything for accords tho... but a k series (s2000?) motor would be dope in a accord. And as far as turbo goes, thats illegal in cali too. Gotta love cali!

Edit: wait, k engines are in RSX's, right?

check out this last post.

https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=40187

Q: Is it street legal to put a Japanese Si-R (Type-R, ZC, B16A1s, etc) engine in my Honda Civic DX for California?

A: If a motor from Japan is deemed 'equivalent' CARB will have it in their books as a smog legal replacement. If it was never sold in the US, then it is very unlikely that it will be in the books. Thus its not smog legal, technically. But it should have no problem passing a smog test, because Japan has stict smog laws so they will still run clean. Will the smog shops even notice that it isn't the stock motor??? Alot of guys say they don't notice and are taking that gamble. But it is a gamble.

Its your car, so its your call.

trust me, if i could pass a JDM engine in cali, i would of had a h22 in my 4th gen right now...

And b16a1's are illegal in cali because their isnt an equivulant.

Edit: Dont blame me for you not being able to pass a ref. You can in a obd1 car like a 4th gen accord/prelude. You are just being fed the wrong info from people on the internet that think that it is illegal, when in fact it is not. Go do some real research, and stop listening to people like you that only spit out ill info.
