Default Alternator install question for a 99 accord v6

The new alt has a smaller pully than the old alt. From what ive researched people say that the pullys should simply be switched so that no slipping of the belt occurs. Would this in any way change the alt performance? With a smaller pully the belt will turn over the pully more times. I have no understanding of how an alt works but i would like to know if having the pully turn over less times than the original pully would somehow degrade the output of the alt.

P.S. the stock tensioner does not make the belt tight enough with the small pully.

Thanks

Are you able to remove the pully from the older alternator?

I dont think two door or 4 doors make a difference.

Okay, first off you should not have received a belt with the new alternator. If the pulley that the belt rotates on is smaller then you need to go on ebay or somewhere and get the correct alternator for our seperentine belt size. I've never heard of this before...I don't see why the pulley would possibly be smaller. What kind of alternator is it? I got mine off ebay for like $130, just a basic no-name alternator. Works better than the Delphi did.

I assume you've already installed this and figured out the auto-tensioner and how to work it, right?

Wouldn't it be some sh!t if I accidently hinted at what the real problem is?
The only reason I asked if it was a two door, was because I noticed in the little bit of searching that I did, that there were two differnet alternators for that year and engine.

well anyway i had a shop swap the pullys for 5 bucks and i installed it. works fine so hopefully it continues to work out. no it didnt come with a belt, the smaller pully jsut didnt leave enough tension, the auto tensioner only gets so tight, and the belt would slip during start up.

Alternator was an aftermarket form 4alterstart after some research it appears to be a common problem and from what ive read everyone jsut swaps the pullys.

Thanks for the help thou.

If that was the case than you should of posted that instead of "Is it two door or four door"
