Default 93 accord rotors

hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone had done rotor work on 93 accords? i have worked with mazda's and chevy's (my past two cars) and was hoping to replace my warpped rotors on my accord. i was told that the rotor on the accord will take a little more effort to get it off. is this true? is it a lot of hassle to replace my rotor? would it be better to just take it to a mechanic instead? thx

its cuz they are "pressed on"

so yea, it will take more work to get the rotors off, but if you do not care about the old rotors, you can get them off with a sledge hammer or some tool along those lines.

another problem i had was getting the lower ball joint off, i even tried using a 2 jaw claw puller thing.

its def. cheaper to do it yourself, oh and you need a impact wrecnch to get the axle nut, and the 4 bolts that scure the rotor off.

thx... i'll look into it. when using the hammer, how should i smack the rotors off? and also, if they are pressed, wouldn't the replacement rotors need special needs to keep them on?

Yeah, it's more than just smaking them off...old accords have the most completely retarded design of hub-over-rotor. Luckily my 99 is rotor over hub. It's bad enough that anyone that does their own work and plans to do it again, swaps brake parts with first gen CL's to convert to rotor over hub (at least I know this works with 5th gens). The rotor is sandwiched inside the hub and bearing assembly. So you have to take the knuckle off. Also you don't have to have air tools, although they are nice. To break the axle nut loose, just use a large breaker bar and do it with either someone pushing the brakes if you have it up in the air, or do it with the wheel on the ground to hold everything still while you loosen it. I use a breaker bar and tap on the middle of the bar with a mini sledge. For the ball joints, lets just say the best $25 I ever spent was on a ball joint removal tool...the kind with the bolt that won't jack up your ball joint, not the pickle fork that can damage the boot.

I have a 90 accord. I just did the Tenzo R big brake rotor conversion on it.(turns out that the h22a just pulls it way too fast for the old Brembo replacement crossdrilled rotors to keep up w/o warping) What you need to do is go down to your local autozone and rent a Slide Hammer with a three prong fitting. Its like $60 but when you bring it back they give you your money back. Take off your axle nut. Attach the slide hammer to your lug nut studs with a couple of lugnuts(you may need the really small diameter "tuning lugs" so the will fit in the attachment). Then just beat the living sh*t out of it. Eventually it will slide off. Then you just remove the wheel hub and attach it to the new rotor(if your new rotor doesnt come with one). Then press it back on by pushing the rotor untill you can get the axle nut started. Then just tite the axle nut back down as tite as you can get it put the rim back on and go to the other side. The first side will probably take you about an hour the second side will take about 15 min.(it always goes faster for me on the second side anyway) But thats all there is too it. Its actually alot more simple than ppl would lead you to believe.

oh yeah i almost forgot that you have to pull the brake caliper off before you attach the slide hammer. Common sense would tell you if you take it off you need to put it back on. NUFF SAID

i broke my torque wrench and had to use a breaker bar.

my real problem was taking off the lower balljoint, i could not do it...rented the pickle fork kind, then rented a 2 jaw puller. still didnt work...ended up not doing it.

edit: i already said this huh?
