That's awful, very sorry to hear it. Glad your kids were okay.

I hope the drunk gets his due.

I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, man.

Don't even second-guess your actions. It's natural for you to have those thoughts, but nobody is ever ready for something like that to happen. It sounds like your quick thinking kept things from becoming worse. The blame belongs squarely on the idiot who was DUI.

My prayers are with you and your family.

wow i am very sorry for the lost. i hope one day someone realize and wake up and fix the law for drunk drivers. everytime i read the newspaper there is always a section where kids and adults die because of drunk drivers and they get away easy compare to the damage they have done. i am very sorry dude

Wow! Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad your kids made it thru the accident, and I'm sure your uncle knows you did your best to avoid the accident. don't beat yourself up on what you could have done when it was not your fault the accident happened. I'm glad they got the drunk driver.

I am really sorry for your loss, man! I don't even know what to say...........I know it must hurt a lot to lose your uncle...........but as a father myself, I also want to remind you how fortunate you are to still have your kids (healthy and for the most part unharmed)! This situation/accident is something that I wish no one would have to go through, but remind yourself that you did everything you could, and it could have been much worse. Again, I don't mean to minimalize the loss of your uncle in any way, as I am sure that is an amazingly hard thing to deal with! But you spent some great time with him during the day, and you still have you kids - who are a special gift from God. Just curious, how old are your kids? Have they been tramatized at all from this?

Lately here in NY thats all we have been hearing about. Drunk driver kills a kid, adult, teen etc...
Just last week this guy was driving his company work van drunk and collided with two kids that darted out in front of him.

He killed one of the kids and the other is in a coma and he is only being brought up on drunk drriving charges and no murder charges........

just like stryker said, we need to reform these laws because they seem so lenient.
I hope you and your family pull through this.
You actually did something. You saved the life of you and your children in the car with the manuver you did. IF you didnt, it might of been all of you who could of passed away.

Im sorry for your loss.

Thanks you guys for all the support, I really appreciate it. My uncle has been taken care of as he wished and my family is hanging in there. The driver of the truck was apparently under the influence of drugs, not alcohol, not that that's any better.

My children, son 9, and daughter 10, are doing good. They are both back in school after taking a couple days off and are a little nervous about riding in a car now, but that's to be expected.

I'll be headed back to work tomorrow, not really looking forward to it but gotta do it. Thanks again guys.
