Getting a Clunking sound from my rear H&R OE Sport Springs

Default Getting a Clunking sound from my rear H&R OE Sport Springs

I installed H&R OE SPORT SPRINGS with BILSTEIN HD SHOCKS on the rear of my 1996 Accord Sedan and i get a Clunking sound from both sides when i hit llarge bumps or pot holes in the Road . Anyone heard of this before or had the same problem. Maybe a solution to stop the noises . Thanks

The stock shocks and springs made no noises at all .

I have had the same problem. What happens is that the spring needs to settle in its perch. I had a horrible sound comming from my front ones and a slight sound in the back. Thrashing the car around a lot helped to get the springs settled in LOL. I only reccomend that if you like to thrash your car around. It should go away after a while. Sharp turns seem to get the springs moving more.

When you installed the springs did you set the end of your bottom coil against the end of the spring perch? Thats what I did and eibach told me that it should have 5mm of room between the end of the perch and coil.

I heard that too in mine. I believe it's because something was too loose or too tighten. I got my stock back on. =)

Default YES i put the spring right up to the bend in the bottom perch

I did when i installed the spring i put the coil right up against the perch maybe everything is just settling in to the mounts. Thanks

Default This could be it too , but they dont have any adjustments on the springs or shocks.

This is a possibility too but what would you tighten or losen . the only adjustment i see is on the top of the SHOCK . ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THIS ? THANKS

Could also be that you're missing a rubber spacer.

Default Where on the shock bottom perch .

The only place on the mounts that has no rubber is the bottom shock perch its all metal . What do you think?

i'm pretty sure its the spring not settled in the perch well. Give it some time. An autocross course would be great if you do that. If it really really bothers you then try taking the springs off and giving them that 5mm of space between the perch.

Default I just jacked the car up and with the wheel off i can move the spring with my hands.

When the spring is fully extended, the car jacked up off the ground, i can move the springs with my hands around in the bottom perch . I dont know what up , but im sure when there compressed with the cars weight on it they dont move. The ride height is the same front and rear . I'm stumped ? Anyone THANKS
