you'll be fine with a drop up to about 1.8 inches.(maybe a little more) you will have some negative camber, but its still within spec and the car will drive fine. I've had my car dropped for about 3 years with a little bit of negative camber and the car handles fine. I'm dropped on Tein coilovers and there is a 1 finger gap.

Take the car to the alignment shop if they can't hit OE specs by rights you should have an alignment kit. But the degree of tire wear you gain from the drop is up to you whether on not you need the kit.
A 1" drop shouldn't be out too much, but I'd take the advise of the alignment shop if you don't know these kind of things or aren't all that mechanically inclinded.

if your going to get lowering springs, its always a good idea to get a decent pair of shocks that can handle being lowered. you might think you'll be saving money, but you'll have a real bouncy ride. besides if you or your shop are going to be in the same area you'll save your self some money on labor. too many time I have heard that people get springs, and then later get shocks. why pay twice for that labor? do it right and get a good shock/spring combo.
