well was 85 now 95k u are righ on time, change it with honda fluid and now u can keep track. honda manual say every 10k miles or every yr change the trans fluid with genuine honda fluid, this is for automatic cause they have no filter. u read what hyde said if i were u i would go back to the dealer and find out if they change all the belts... water pump etc.... if they havent u better change it soon.

i've tried several funnels that were claimed to be transmission fluid funnels from walmart and other parts stores but they just don't fit. is there any special funnels that i should use to refill ATF? my accord is a 99 v6.

thanks!

I'm not sure of the size of the ATF hole on my V6 as I have yet to change the fluid because I had the dealer fix a problem with the tranny(free of charge of course)last year and he changed the fluid while he did that. It's due for a change this summer though.

Anyway, from my experience on my older I4 Accord and my current 93 Civic, the ATF refill hole is darn small and very low. I got this long funnel with a very small end on it to do that. Look for that, that's the best advice I can give you now. Hope that helps.

I don't have the funnel with me. It's at my Mom's house where I do all my auto work at. The next time I'm over there I'll try my hardest to remember to snap a shot of it.

I've seen some funnels that have like a hose on the bottom. That would be even easier to feed thru whatever stuff is in the way. You could even get some hose at a hardware store & stick it on the end of a normal funnel.

when i got my old car, after a year or so, the tranny was working but it wasn't shifting correctly. we changed the fluid and it wouldn't move at all. then we had to rebuild the tranny.

anyhow, i was considering trying out the mobil1 synthetic atf, but i guess i should not.
