defogger and A/C

defogger and A/C
On my 2001 Accord, the A/C compressor comes on automatically any time the windshield defrost/defog button is pushed. Sometimes this is useful, but other times I just don't want the compressor to turn on.
Is there a way to change this so that the A/C compressor comes on only when I tell it to? (like my '97 Accord) The owner's manual mentions nothing about how to turn off this feature.

a/c
There is a way to turn off the a/c while the defog/defrost is on. When you push the def button, the a/c comes on automatically, but if you push the a/c button, you can turn the a/c off and the green light on the a/c button will go off, or the electronic display will show A/C off, and there you go, defrost/defog with no ac compressor. I have noticed though, that the a/c does help clear the fog from the windshield faster than with it off on a rainy day.

This can't be disabled...so it's really a matter of somehow finding the energy to reach up there and hit the A/C switch after the Defrost switch (cause I know some people are just THAT lazy).

A/C air is dehumdified, so the dryer air does a better job removing the condensation.
To the guys who turn it off, remember that even in off months you should run the A/C from time to time to prevent the seals from drying out, shrinking, and allowing the refrigerant to leak out. Id just leave it as is, to help with that periodic necessary maintenance.

Yeah, I do know you can easily turn off the A/C, it's just that I don't want it turning on in the first place. Also I agree that it's a good idea to run the A/C periodically, even during the winter ... but there's no need to run it everday.
