No, it's just I accidentally had it in 2nd gear and was going 60 MPH at one point.

Yes, because it doesn't depend at all on your transmission or engine. The correct answer is 54.8876 MPH. If you need it in KMH give me a yell.

Is there a rev limiter on the current generation of Honda engines?

Of course there is, almost every engine has a rev limiter when going north on the tach. The J30's rev limiter is usually a couple hundred RPM north of redline.

I guessed as much. In that case there's no "bad for the car" situation, is there? The rev limiter will kick in before any damage is done, right?

doesn't logic state that if you see the needle heading toward the red its time to shift? red=not safe thus shift before red.

Well there are plenty of "bad for the car" situations. I define them as revving past VTEC engagement while the engine is cold, driving for only very short periods of time, extensive idling, improper maintenance, etc. I've always believed that my engine is designed to hit redline on a fairly consistent basis, and it still runs great at 150k with little oil leakage, but overdoing it is a good way to **** up a good engine. Redlining a car isn't "bad" IMO, but there are certainly bad ways to drive your car. It's mostly common sense and basic knowledge of cars.

I don't think common sense is as prevalent in this forum as it used to be.
