I hit a Transmission on the freeway last week. The cars in front of me swerved, but I had a truck next to me and could not get over far enough. I hit the tranny and tore up both of my passenger side tires and messed up the alignment and possibly the suspension.

Well, I got 2 new tires and an alignment. Now, above 50, the accord handles like an SUV. It has major body roll - only on the passenger side, and I have to continually correct when ever I change lanes to the right or there is a curve. It feels like a jeep with the swaybars disconnected.

2 Honda dealers have checked it out, and have no idea. All of the alignment specs are correct, nothing appears to be damaged.

It's a 2001 Accord 4c Ex, all stock

Thats weird that the dealers said nothing is wrong. Did they put it up on a lift?

 

Yeah, they had it on a lift. The measurements were correct, nothing on the boots or any thing was damaged. They had multiple mechanics check it out, and they were all stumped...They are recommending replacing the suspension component by component until it goes away.

Any Guesses?

A transmission??!! Thank God no one got killed. Chalk another up to morons dropping their junk on the hwy... The cops need to start nailing some of these guys who refuse to secure their loads properly.

A couple of years ago there was a girl down here who got killed when some guy let a big roll of carpet fall out of the back of his truck. Then there was the child that was killed by a spare tire that dropped off a pickup. Oh, and then the local DJ who got killed when a flatbed lost a forklift. Total stupidity.

I hope you figure out what's wrong, obviously that could be very dangerous. It does sound kind of like a broken strut, but it could be a lot of things. You might get under it with a flashlight and take a look. It might not be showing up when all the load is off the wheels, which I presume is the only way they looked at it (on a rack)

 

Does the car hop alot in that side. like when you driving over bad road or a bump. its most likely a blown shock ,when i put coil overs in my car i let my stupid ass cousin put the coil over in. the moron grabbed the strut with pressure pliers to take off the nut on the top and damaged both shocks. my car handeld pretty much like you described. the front jumped like it was a low rider. check it out. i got a 6 gen accord also 1999 sedan.

 

Hmm, if it's only soft on the one side, I'd say either blown shocks or ur imagination. Did either of the mechanics take the thing for a test drive with you in the car to point out the problem to them?

I going to put new Struts on both sides, its the cheapest thing to start swapping out. I'll try the stabalizer next, although it didn't visually appear to be damaged. It's starting to sound like the shock is blown (from the symptoms described), I drove it with the advisor and demonstrated it to him, and they seemed to have tested it (they put about 15 miles on the car.) I'll let you know how it works out.

I debated going through insurance, but 2 new tires ~$160, a alignment ~$50, and new struts don't equal my deductible or how much they'll raise my rates after I claim it.
