Actually to correct you the GT does not have more HP then all those cars. The mustang GT has 260hp and 225hp, The Acura CL-S, TL-S equal the HP. All of these cars weigh 200-400lbs less than the Mustang GT. The Mustang GT 95-98 is not that fast. All slower than the cars I mentioned. The 99-02 GT's pull high-14's for Auto and low 14's for Manual. The Acura TL-S Auto ties the Auto GT, The CL-S wins with its 6spd at 14.2 and the Maxima 6spd at 14.3 and the Maxima and CL-S auto that both pull high 14's.

 

Hmmm...thts intersting and i am gonna trust you on those numbers. So the 2002 Mutang gt has 260 hp? thats ALL??? so the accord is going to be only 20 horses short? I KNOW it cna make up for that in either boost or a supercharger...geesh...maybe beating a mustang might not be so hard now. Unless they come out with a bigger and better 8 cylinder stang...hmmmmm...i wonder what the next HP total will be???

260hp is all it has but it does have 302TQ. The new 2003 Cobra has 390HP with a supercharger stock!

 

Your right but it has 300 + pounds of torque , it would lose off the line and the mustang would get a fairly good jump on it, since they have equal hp how would it catch up after getting beat off the line? How does the CL-S win or maxima? It might be close though.

 

To tell you the truth the Mustang doesn't even get the jump off the line. The CL-S or Maxima weigh 200-400lbs less than the Mustang GT. They both acheive high HP and TQ numbers at low rpms. Maybe not as much torque but the weight advantage for these two cars are significant. It is still a close race and could go either way.

2002 Nissan Maxima Curb Weight: 3,220 lbs.

2000 Mustang GT Curb Weight: Configuration V8 ,3241 lbs


I couldnt find the 2002 GT weights but i'm sure its not a big differrence.

According to Carpoint.msn.com the Mustang GT weighs 3429-3477lbs depending on Transmission. The Acura CL-S weighs 3510lbs and they did not show a weight difference for the manual. I would bet around 60lbs difference. The Nissan Maxima weighs in at 3271lbs. The Maxima is about 150lbs less and the CL-S weighs about 50lbs more. I stand corrected about the weight differences. The CL-S does have a 5-speed auto and 6-speed manual which definantly improve acceleration instead of one less gear for each tranny.

OK YOU GUYS ARE SMOKIN CRACK....THE ACCORD COUPE IS NO WHERE NERE UNDER 6. THE CLS 6 SPEED IS FASTER AND DOES 0-60 IN 6 FLAT. AND 14.3 1/4THS. 20 HP IN ENOUGH TO DUST AN ACCORD. AND THE NEW ACCORD IS A COPY CAT OF THE CL....ITS JUST WAY UGLIER. RACE ME AND CHECK OUT HOW MUCH BETTER MY TAIL LIGHTS LOOK HEHE
