Default New Accord Owner

We just bought a '00 Accord EX yesterday. *happy dance* Now, we noticed last night that we did not receive an owner's manual. The Maintanence Required light blinks ten or eleven times (depening on who you ask, me or my husband ) when we start the car, but I know they just changed the oil. Is it possible that we need to reset the light, the car seems to be running great otherwise.

Also, is the clock diplay suppose to light up at night? It is impossible to read if after dark. Last but not least, we noticed that the car makes some kind of humming noise once we shut it off. Does it have an electric fuel pump that might be making that kind of noise?

We plan on going back to the dealer tomorrow after work and getting the owner's manual and our questions answered, but I am an impationed person and would like to know sooner AND also wanted to say HI to everyone on the board .

Thanks for your help!

The MR light can be easily reset. I'll attach a pic for you. The damn Accord clock is a finicky little thing haha...mine goes off and on. Usually I pry up the clock, move the wires a bit and put it back in. There is definetely a flaw with the clocks because lots of people have problems with the light haha.

Welcome to the forum.

Yeah I just replaced my clock bulb for the first time a couple days ago. Did some searching on this beloved board. h:

Here are the Cliff Notes:

- Buy the bulb at your Honda Dealer...bout $3.00
- Be sure to pry from the BOTTOM first (this includes the clock and the hazard switch)...because I followed jschmid's instructions and tried the sides first and now mine's a little damaged...and my fingernails hurt until the next day. :fawk:
- You'll figure it out from there.

Thanks for the info and the nice welcome.

So, if I understand it correctly, the car is currently between 6000 to 7500 miles since it's been maintenanced last. (Thanks so much for the pic, that helped) I am going to make the dealership replace the lightbulb. Guess I should buy some for back up.

Yes, we plan on making mods to the car. Our son (17) is looking at hugh rear spoilers and such, but I think we will keep it a little more low keyed. We are going to buy the 'normal' spoiler and the hubby is going to put on. We do intend on replaceing the head and tail lights with carbon fiber ones (I think that is what the hubby called them). Anyone knows a reputable online seller for those? I want to get a body kit for it as well, but that will be a while. First order of business will be lowering it and replacing the wheels and tires.

Welcome to HAN!

Please smack your son if he even thinks about putting a huge spoiler on the Accord.

lol...I told him that he can put those kind of spoilers on his car (which he already has), and that we are too old for those.

Were could we find find a factory type rear wing/spoiler? We saw them in Jegs, but are wondering were else we could look? Painting it will not be a problem, the hubby does that kind of stuff. Thanks

there is a nice M3 style wing that they sell on ebay.
Im going to get it once I repair my rear bumper w/ the Ding King.

Wont look nice with a small lip and then a dent on my bumper.
You could never be to old to have fun modifying your car.

Just pleaseeeee.....dont rice it out...... = )
