oh sh1t... trans problem
ok. my transmission (auto) feels like it has a hard time getting from 1st to 2nd gear, but the rest is fine. so i figured i should get the tranny flushed. i did it about a year ago at jiffy lube and it didnt help much, but i thought it was still better than nothing. now i been reading posts on this board about how hondas require a special ATF that only honda makes. so im thinking i really screwed up my trans. i just went out to buy some ATF at pepboys.. i was looking for the moble1 ATF that some on this board swear by, but at $6 a bottle.. i went to see some other brands too. i came across valvoline. it said its formulated for hondas too. just wondering what people here think and if anyone has used it. by the way..i have a 5th gen if my name didnt give it away.

Use only HONDA fluid from a Honda dealer. $4 or so a quart. Honda knows what parts are in the tranny and what lubes work best. Valvoline make a "general" fluid that is "safe" for all cars. Safe means the fluid won't kill your tranny, it does not mean it will help it survive as long as possible. You can also add Lubegard in with your ATF. If you doubt any of this talk to a Honda tech.
By the way you can drain and fill your own fluid, it's pretty simple.

yes..change ur atf fluid FIRST..and see if this helps...if this continues get it checked ASAP!!! The longer you wait, the more expensive the repair might be. This holds true to lots of engine problems, preventative maintanence is the key to a cars longevity!

i only use B&M trickshift... that is quality ****... honda atf cant take the heat from driving the hell out of the car like i do. it burns in about 10k miles even with my big ass tranny cooler
