Default My car feels as though its braking when I'm not doing it!!

This is kind of difficult to explain. I have a 96 EX- AV6 and have had it since ~29k miles. It currently has 60k miles. But I have always noticed this since I've had it:

When driving in either D4 or D3 between ~32-42 mph, if I let go of the gas completely and let it cruise, it feels as though something is making it decelerate faster than it should normally, I feel it in the car. The best way I can explain it is like when you have cruise control set and you push the "decel" button to slow it down, it feels as though the brakes are getting applied slightly. Below or above these speeds its normal but once it gets in this range it happens.

Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks

Have you had the alignment checked...maybe the toe is off and hence causing a braking feel?

Maybe there's too much brake fluid pressure and it's pressing on your brakes the whole time. Possibly the rotor is off, but then i think you would notice both situations at the lower speeds more than the higher.

i think i know what ur talking about, there's a slight "drag" at low speeds. Have you ever switched into N when cruising? If you ever had, you noticed that ur car is less "burdoned" by the tranny and the engine. This is what i believe. Not sure if you believe me :-)

I know what you're talking about as well.....I noticed it as soon as I got the car. It happens when I'm in D3 or 4, going between 30 and 40, and going either on a totally flat surface or down a very slight hill. It just seems like the car should be keeping its speed, but it doesn't. :dunno:

exactly Baco95!!! at least I know someone that it also happens to, I don't even know why since we have diff. transmissions. But my guess is a) its supposed to be like that(hondas auto trannys are good but not the best, I wish I had a manual!!) or b) it might be a defect

All I can say is that it kinda sucks b/c to some slight degree it wastes more gas b/c of this in city driving through unessesary deceleration and it's just annoying!!

Oh yea, and I got my muffler with piping done today and now...I even hear it in the muffler, it changes sounds when it does this deceleration thing.

opps, the quote at the bottom of my reply doesn't end up right, I guess "strikeout" is not supported.
