Default noob with dumb ????

I just bought a tuner off the lot. It's a '96 Accord, and I'll tell you what I know.
1. Greddy Stainless 4-1 header
2. Lowered
3. Custom Wheels/tires
4. 4 cyl. vtec

What I need to know is
1. Where do I find the engine model? (most likely a f22, but who knows)
2. If I post some pics, will you help me finger out what the hell I've got?
3. Will I get some suggestions on what I need to do to improve the car? (like body kit, turbo, shaving, etc.).

I'm new to Hondas, but I've been turning a wrench for a while, so let me have it! I'm stoked about getting this beast in top shape. I beat a Neon tuner yesterday, and he's told all of his mall friends about the old guy who spanked him (I'm 33), so I gotta get faster soon!

You can find the Model # on the side of the Timing Belt Cover, its also on the Block somewhere on top, and on the Tranny I think...
I hope you got a manual, if you did you can look around at some turbo kits and stuff>
Post up some pictures so we can all give you some recommendations... I say you keep the "H" emblems, I hate when people shave those..
A nice conservative body kit always looks good! Does it have a spoiler yet? If not get one that looks somewhat OEM, none of that aluminum wing junk...

Yeah I'd recommend the H22 swap..those engines just kick it all...
BTW, I think a Honda without it's H looks stupid IMO...

I love how people buy cars just for the name without knowing the potential it has.

swede- once you go H22 you will not go back.

I bought the car because I knew what potential it had. I spotted the Montegi MR7 rims, Nankang tires, and Tanabe exhaust, and knew that the dealer had no idea what he was sitting on.
When I say I don't know what I've got, I mean that I can't identify all of the mods on this thing.
I can spot mods on a motorcycle easily, but I wouldn't know a strut bar if it bit me in the ass. a little more help and a lot less flame, romeo.

Welcome to the board.

You'll find that aftermarket modifications don't really increase the car's resale or value. There are a select few that will pay more for mods, depending on their knowlegde, the mods, etc.

It is kinda funny that you said the dealer didn't know what he was sitting on...but it sounds like that makes two of you...you didn't know what you were buying.

As far as "romeo" talking about potential...no clue. Sure, if throw a lot of money at it, it'll become faster, but it would take a swap/build and turbo to really make it a fast car.

The springs may still have the manufacturer's markings on them, the same if the shocks are aftermarket. Jack up a corner and have a look. As far as the motor, if looks stock, it probably is. But the block do have the engine code stamped into them. F22 for example.

Either way, post up some pics and enjoy your new ride.

Thanks, jschmid, your info helped a lot. I went out on my lunch hour and found the f22 on the timing belt cover (thanks vassil3427). I just want a respectable tuner. I think a cold air intake might boost a little more hp out of it, but is it worth it?

Yeah its worth it , but if you go forced induction then its pointless. I think I saw somewhere also that if you plan on puttin an h22 in it that the f22 and h22 intakes are a different size width.
