Door dings?? Compare to Korea and US.. Korea is much worse
due to tight parking spots. Normal: Scratched bumpers / door
dings.. So many expansive cars comes with rear distance warning
features. It tells how far car is from the objects in rear...

it's kinda hard to find cars that are 5 yrs old.
and those rear bumper features are generally for huge limo-size cars like Equus, Cadillac, etc. Accord/Sonata don't need that!

Dings. I've obsessed about this to the point of referring to the crime as "hit and run". I park so far away from the front door of stores that even my kids dog me about it. I just got my car painted 2 weeks ago, and now I'm afraid to even drive it.
Ok, then I think, F this, Im going to fight back. I spent a lot of years in car stereo, doing a lot of alarms and figuring out unique ways of securing a car. It hits me while Im watching COPS or some show like that where the cops' car is filming a traffic stop-turned murder. WE CAN DO THAT TOO!!!!
Its called the DentCam. Its triggered from a proximity sensor(motion sensor) and films about 30 seconds through a panoramic camera mounted in the rear of the cars' headliner. The idea is that you will hopefully get film of someone dinging your car, then pulling off and you hopefully get a tag#. Then pop the VHS tape out of your trunk and send a copy to the offender after you run their tag at DMV with a bill for estimated charges.
I hope no one steals my idea, I am wiring the prototype now. I'll be sure to give all you guys discounts when I develop the product. My wife thinks Im nuts, obviously, she doesnt read these boards. I bet sher wants one after I finish it.

My question is this. Even if you see someone do it, what recourse do you have in a parking lot? Sure you could beat the crap out of them, but legally, can you do anything? Years ago I saw a lady open her door on my car, and while I tried to flag her down she sped off. I called the cops and they just laughed at me.

I was with my dad in a Pizza place parking lot, we were in the Yukon waiting for my mom to come out. Anyway this explorer parks next to us. 16 year old or so kid gets out and hits the back passenger door pretty hard. My dad looked over about to get out but didnt. When the people were gone, he got out pulled his leatherman and put a 6ft line down the side. And if that wasn't bad enough he cut two valve stems. Not really propper to piss off a guy in a brand new Yukon XL

*SIGH* door dings.... I have a nice one on my passenger door. Good ole WALMART! Anytime I go anywhere I park far away and by those islands this way one side is protected. I cannot stand dings. I just sent a request to Dent Wizard and hopefully I can get them at the local dealership here. I have been meaning to get this fixed for a long time, now I finally have decided that I am. I get depressed everytime I look at it because I feel like I cant even drive next to someone with them seeing my passenger side door. Weird huh? Anyways, Spyfunkr, add me to the waiting list for that camera :-)
